Photo Tuition So you think you can learn something about photography from me? Well, firstly I’m flattered and secondly, I’m a little bit overwhelmed. And excited. I’m one of those people who gets a kick out of seeing people have “aha” moments. If I can help you to one, or even some, of those moments with your camera skills, I’ll be a very happy man. If you've spent any time here on the website, you'll have an impression of my photography. As well as having a decent eye for composition, I have a solid understanding of how to achieve the results that I want from a photo - of how to use my camera and I'm confidant I can help you do the same. If you want to grow as a landscape- or nature- photographer, there's a good chance I can help you on that journey. If you’re looking for someone to help you take great family or pet photos, I’m probably not the person you’re looking for. This won’t be about making you a successful Instagrammer or even helping you to impress your friends with your photos (though both of these may well happen), it’s about enabling you to learn to take images that you’re happy with because at the end of the day that's what counts. Cost First things first, the cost. As of June 2020 I am just starting out offering tuition. As I start out, I will not be asking for money for my services. Instead, I will be asking for detailed feedback from you in order that I can hone my skills as an instructor. At the moment, your feedback is more valuable to me than money. How Can I Help You? So, what do you want to learn? What do you know already? If you want to come on a shoot, I’ll send you a short questionnaire so that I can get a feeling for where you are and what I can help you with. Be thinking about things such as what frustrates you about your own photos, what techniques would you like to learn. What’s important to you about photography. What You Will Need To Bring Enthusiasm and willingness to learn. They’re the most important things.  A camera, preferably one with program, aperture priority, shutter priority and manual modes. You should be familiar with its use. A sufficiently solid tripod. Appropriate outdoor gear for a day out in the mountains according to the day’s conditions (shoes, clothing, water and food) A sense of humour and the willingness to get down in the mud! What You Should Expect Unless you have a specific plan in mind, my recommendation would be that we head down to the mountains to somewhere like Hinterstein and simply head up the trail. Tuition will normally involve a whole day spent in the wilds, so you'll need to be at least a little bit fit, though we will be stopping regularly for photos. Rather than classroom tuition, it will all be out in the field (or forest😉) showing you optimal camera settings as we go for the compositions as we find them. We'll discuss what makes good photos, what constitutes good and bad lighting (and why bright sunlight isn't always the best), how to separate subject matter from its environment to draw the viewer's eye to where you want it and how to use lines in a photo to do the same. We’ll also talk about some differences between your eyes and your camera and why something that looks good doesn’t always yield a great photo. Contact details here.

Fotounterricht Also, du meinst, du könntest etwas über Fotografie von mir lernen? Als Erstes bin ich sehr geehrt. Zweitens, bin ich etwas überwältigt. Und aufgeregt. Ich bin jemand, der sich freut, wenn er anderen zu Erfolgsmomenten verhelfen kann. Wenn du dich auf meiner Seite etwas umgeschaut hast, wirst du einen Eindruck meiner Fotografie bekommen haben. Neben einem guten Auge für Fotomotive, verstehe ich, wie man die Kamera einsetzt, um diese Ziele zu erreichen. Ich bin zuversichtlich, daß ich auch dir diesbezüglich helfen kann. Falls du mehr über die Landschafts- oder Naturfotografie lernen möchtest, glaube ich, dass ich dir helfen kann. Falls du jemanden suchst, der dir etwas über Familien- oder Haustier- Portraits beibringen kann, bist du bei mir wahrscheinlich fehl am Platz. Es wird nicht darum gehen, dich zu einem erfolgreichen Instagrammer zu machen oder dir zu helfen, deine Freunde mit deiner Fotokunst zu beeindrucken (obwohl diese sehr wohl als Nebenwirkung auftreten können), sondern ich möchte dir helfen, Fotos zu machen mit denen DU zufrieden bist. Letztendlich ist es das, was zählt. Preis Zunächst stehe ich im Juni 2020 ganz am Anfang meines Werdegangs als Foto-Tutor. Es geht mir im Moment nicht darum, damit Geld zu verdienen. Stattdessen möchte ich nach dem Kurs ausführliches Feedback von dir haben: was hat dir gefallen, was nicht, was hat dich am meisten weitergebracht (wenn überhaupt)? Zum aktuellen Zeitpunkt sind mir diese Erkenntnisse viel wichtiger als Geld. Wie Kann Ich dir Helfen? Was möchtest du überhaupt lernen? Was weißt du schon? Falls du auf eine Fototour mitkommen möchtest, werde ich dir einen kurzen Fragebogen zukommen lassen, damit ich ein Gespür dafür bekomme, womit ich dir helfen kann. Überlege dir zum Beispiel, was dich aktuell am meisten über deine Fotos ärgert, welche Techniken du erlernen möchtest. Was ist dir überhaupt wichtig bei deinen Fotos? Was du Mitbringen Sollst In erster Linie Enthusiasmus und Lernbereitschaft. Eine Kamera, am besten eine mit Programm, Verschlusspriorität, Zeitpriorität und manuelle Einstellungen. Du sollst dich mit dem Fotoapparat schon ein bisschen auskennen. Ein Stativ. Passende Outdoor-Ausrüstung für einen Tag im Gebirge (gutes Schuhwerk, Klammotten, Wasser und Essen). Einen Sinn für Humor und die Bereitschaft, auch mal im Dreck zu knien. Was du Erwarten Kannst Meine Empfehlung wäre irgendwo in die Berge zu fahren, zum Beispiel Hinterstein bei Bad Hindelang - es sei denn, Du hast einen konkreten Plan. Dort können wir einfach den Weg hoch laufen. In der Regel wird es ein Ganztags-Unterricht sein, ein bisschen Kondition ist also gefragt, aber wir werden immer wieder anhalten und Fotos machen. Es wird kein Klassenunterricht geben - eher ‘Learning by Doing’. Unterwegs werden wir anhand der vorhandenen Beispielen diskutieren, was ein gutes Foto ausmacht, der Unterschied zwischen gutem und schlechtem Licht (und warum grelles Sonnenlicht nicht immer dein Freund ist), wie man Fotos gestaltet, damit der Blick des Betrachters dahin fällt, wo du ihn haben willst. Wir werden auch über die Unterschiede zwischen unseren Augen und Kameras reden und überlegen, warum etwas was mit bloßem Auge toll aussieht nicht immer zu den besten Fotos führt.
